LATE 1950'S PHOTO - YOU CAN SEE THE FREEWAY IN THE BACKGROUND.
Two Firemen I Know, Jack Cannon and Artie Buell,
Ladder 121, Had a Metal Aerial Ladder in 1961 So I Think This Photo Is Prior to That Unless it is a Spare Hook and Ladder.

FIRE BACK IN THE DAY AT PLAYLAND BEACH 98 ST AND ROCKAWAY BEACH BLVD. ENGINE 266 AND LADDER 121 FIRST DUE.
Far Rockaway Queens. FF RAY MAY of Ladder 134 was killed when the wall of the Knickerbocker Ice House collapsed. 2 other FF from Engine 328 were very seriously injured. The Inwood Volunteer Fire Dept is aiding in lifting the massive wall off the 3 members. Very sad day for the 47 Battalion
